The Pitlochry Dam and Salmon Fish Ladder is just a short walk from the centre of Pitlochry surrounded by amazing Perthshire scenery. It is well worth a visit!

The Pitlochry Dam is opened at various times in the year to allow excess water into the River Tummel. The Dam was built between 1947/1951. There is a visitor's viewing room where you can get a glimpse of the engineering works of the dam.

The Salmon Fish Ladder was built to enable salmon to travel up and over the dam into Loch Faskally to get to their spawning grounds. The best time to view the salmon is between April and late September. Approximately 5000 salmon pass through each season.
