Family Fun at The Fountain, Edinburgh

Written by

Fountainbridge is THE family hub of Edinburgh and at the heart of that is The Fountain

At The Fountain Bar, they are committed to being family friendly and all children are most welcome. With the launch of their new family orientated menus and activities, not only are there yummy dining options, but bonding and entertainment all under one roof. By offering a range of activities meant to encourage and stimulate your kid's minds, not just distract, you can relax, eat, drink and be merry at this venue!

Once your little one has chosen from the delicious new children's menu (with dishes such as Wizard's Fish & Chips and Pirate's Sausage & Mash), you can pick from the extensive selection of activities: Kid's Activity Pack with drawing, puzzles, stickers and crayons; Mini DVD Player with headphones and a selection of U DVDs, Toy Chest with Duplo and mini figures to stimulate their imaginations, Wipe Clean drawing boards, easy learning books including firm favourites like Peppa Pig, dinosaurs and animals, as well as a Tomy Mega Sketcher.

Louise Maclean, Signature Pubs explains the new changes at The Fountain:

"We planned the new kid's menu around dishes and foods we knew our own children liked to eat and made it fun while still being good, nutritious food. We added a kid's activity menu too to keep them entertained while their parents can relax over a leisurely and delicious pub lunch!"

Edinburgh's only Oor Wullie @ The Rutland

Written by

'Oor Wullie Bucket Trail' was a hugely successful public art event which ran over summer for The Archie Foundation. Fifty-five 5ft tall sculptures of Oor Wullie, all sitting on his bucket, were all individually sponsored and decorated by artists and designers. These creations were then transported around Scotland for the public to view, share and adore. At the end of the trail, on 13 September, the statues were auctioned off with all proceeds going to The Archie Foundation, a charity that helps provide care for sick children and their families.

The Rutland Hotel is immersed in history and has become an Edinburgh institution in its own right, with their famous Kyloe Cow becoming a much loved landmark by tourists and locals alike. The Wullie statue is set to be positioned beside the Kyloe cow, directly outside The Rutland Hotel.

Steven Simpson, MD Rutland Hotel, shares his delight at welcoming Oor Braveheart to The Rutland,

'We are thrilled to have one of the fantastic Oor Wullie statues coming to Edinburgh, I look forward to customers and tourists having their pictures taken with Kyloe the Cow and Oor Braveheart with the distinctive backdrop of the castle.'
